Fatal Collision Between Covered Van and Auto-Rickshaw Claims Three Lives in Habiganj

A tragic collision between a covered van and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Habiganj's Chunarughat upazila resulted in three fatalities and two others sustaining injuries. The incident occurred in the Chanbhanga area of the upazila on Thursday afternoon, as confirmed by Habiganj Sadar Police Station OC Ajay Chandra Dev.

The deceased have been identified as Tanim, 25, son of Farook Mia from Durgapur village in the upazila, Tamanna Akhter, 20, of Ramshree village, and Sufia Khatun, 45, wife of Chamed Ali from Umednagar, Habiganj town. The names of the injured individuals are currently unknown.

According to local reports, a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw, carrying passengers, was en route from the Shaistaganj intersection to Chunarughat. The collision occurred when the auto-rickshaw reached the Chanbhanga area, colliding with a pickup. Three passengers sustained severe injuries, and upon being transported to the hospital, they were pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

Nirmalendu Chakraborty, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chunarughat-Madhabpur Circle, reported that the police have seized both vehicles involved in the accident. The bodies have been taken to the hospital, and further actions are in progress.
