prime minister Narendra modi is scheduled to visit Uttar pradesh and Bihar on June 18 and 19, 2024. This visit underscores his administration’s ongoing commitment to farmer welfare and educational development, as detailed by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

PM Kisan Samman Sammelan in Varanasi

On June 18, at approximately 5 PM, Prime Minister Modi will participate in the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. This event is a significant milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to support farmers. During the event, the Prime Minister will release the 17th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. This installment, amounting to over Rs 20,000 crores, will benefit around 9.26 crore farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer.

So far, the PM-KISAN scheme has provided more than Rs 3.04 lakh crore to over 11 crore eligible farmer families, demonstrating the government’s sustained support for the agricultural sector. In addition to the fund release, the Prime Minister will also grant certificates to over 30,000 women from Self Help Groups (SHGs) as Krishi Sakhis under the Krishi Sakhi Convergence Program (KSCP). This initiative aims to empower rural women by training them as Para-extension Workers, aligning with the objectives of the "Lakhpati Didi" Program.

Ganga Aarti and Kashi Vishwanath Temple Visit

Following the Sammelan, at around 7 PM, Prime Minister Modi will witness the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, a significant spiritual event. Later, at approximately 8 PM, he will perform pooja and darshan at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, further highlighting his connection to the spiritual heritage of Varanasi.

On june 19, at around 9.45 AM, prime minister Modi will the historic Ruins of Naranda. Following this, at 10.30 AM, he will inaugurate the new campus of Nalanda University in Rajgir, Bihar. This inauguration marks a pivotal moment in the revival of one of the world’s oldest centers of learning.

The new campus is a result of collaborative efforts between India and the East Asia Summit (EAS) countries. The inauguration will be attended by several distinguished guests, including the Head of Missions of 17 countries. The campus boasts two academic blocks with 40 classrooms, accommodating around 1900 students. Additionally, it features two auditoriums with 300 seats each, a student hostel with a capacity of 550 students, an International Centre, an Amphitheatre for up to 2000 individuals, a Faculty Club, and a Sports Complex.

This "Net Zero" Green Campus is designed to be self-sustainable, featuring a solar plant, water treatment facilities, and extensive water bodies. The campus aims to honor the legacy of the original Naranda University, established 1600 years ago and considered one of the first residential universities globallay. The ruins of Naranda were declared a UN Heritage site in 2018
