Dhaka, June 23, 2024 - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned to Dhaka tonight after concluding a two-day state visit to India. The visit was at the invitation of her Indian counterpart, Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Prime Minister and her entourage arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:25 PM on a flight operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The flight had earlier departed from Palam Airport in New Delhi at 6:20 PM Bangladesh time.

At Palam Airport, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was seen off by Indian Minister of State for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, as well as Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri Kirtivardhan Singh, alongside Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, Md Mustafizur Rahman.

This visit marks the first bilateral trip by any head of government to India following the recent formation of the BJP-led government for the third consecutive term after the Lok Sabha elections. Notably, this visit was Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's second trip to New Delhi within a fortnight, having previously attended Prime Minister Modi's swearing-in ceremony on June 9.

During this visit, Bangladesh and India signed ten Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), including seven new agreements and the renewal of three existing ones. These agreements aim to further strengthen the robust relationship between the two neighboring countries.

The MoUs encompass various sectors, including trade, investment, and environmental cooperation, demonstrating the commitment of both nations to deepen their bilateral ties.

The visit underscored the ongoing collaboration and mutual interests between Bangladesh and India, setting a positive tone for future engagements and cooperative efforts in various fields.
