On Monday afternoon, tragic events unfolded as heavy mortar shells, reportedly launched from Myanmar, landed and detonated in the Jalpaitali area of Ghundhum Union, located in Naikhyangchhari upazila of Bandarban. At approximately 2:20 pm, the devastating explosion occurred, targeting an under-construction house situated in Jolpaichari village.

The victims of this unfortunate incident were identified as Hosne Ara Begum, a middle-aged shopkeeper hailing from Ghundhum Union, and an elderly Rohingya man who had been a long-time resident of the area.

AKM Jahangir Aziz, the Chairman of Ghumdum Union Parishad, verified the casualties, stating that the Rohingya man succumbed to the impact on the spot, while Hosne Ara Begum lost her life during transportation to the hospital. The gravity of the situation underscores the urgent need for attention and resolution to prevent further such incidents and safeguard the lives of the people in the affected regions.
