A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday night in North Chandpur village of Kumarkhali upazila, resulting in the death of a young man, Nannu, son of Abdul Jalil, and sparking tensions in the area. The incident occurred around 8 o'clock in the evening when Nannu's body was discovered in a corn field adjacent to an orchard by the local police.

According to sources close to the family, Nannu was on his way to his leased pond in Keshavpur after concluding his Iftar meal. However, his journey was abruptly halted when he was intercepted by assailants on his motorcycle. He was then forcibly taken to a nearby art garden, where he was brutally attacked with sharp weapons, resulting in his untimely demise.

The violence didn't end with Nannu's tragic death. Reports indicate that there was widespread vandalism, looting, and arson in the houses belonging to the opposing group, exacerbating the already tense situation in the area.

Speaking to Projonmokantho, Kumarkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Akibul Islam suggested that the motive behind Nannu's murder could be linked to a struggle for dominance. To prevent further escalation of violence, additional police forces have been deployed in the area.

The body of the deceased has been retrieved and transferred to the morgue of Kushtia 250-bed general hospital for further examination. While investigations are ongoing, authorities have not ruled out the possibility of political motivations behind the murder.

As tensions continue to simmer in the region, residents remain on edge, fearing further clashes between opposing factions. The situation remains volatile, with authorities urging for calm and cooperation as they work towards resolving the underlying issues that led to this tragic incident.
