The United Nations Volunteers (UNV)

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme in Bangladesh recently welcomed two new members to its team. Ms. Mehjaben Akther and Mr. Nazmus Sakib have joined as National UN Youth Volunteer and National UN Volunteer Specialist, respectively. Mehjaben has taken up the role of Programme Assistant – SRH with UNFPA Bangladesh, while Nazmus has assumed the position of Diversity and Inclusion Officer with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bangladesh.

Mehjaben Akther

Mehjaben Akther brings a wealth of experience to her role as a National UN Youth Volunteer Programme Assistant – SRH with UNFPA Bangladesh. She previously served as a Data Enumerator with Oxfam in Bangladesh and worked as a Project Coordinator Intern at Hypertag Solutions Limited. Mehjaben holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from United International University. Her dedication to contributing to reproductive health and rights is evident in her enthusiasm for her new role. She expressed her excitement about collaborating with the team and contributing to the mission of empowering individuals and communities. We wish Mehjaben the best of luck in her endeavors with UNFPA Bangladesh.

Nazmus Sakib

Nazmus Sakib has assumed the role of Diversity and Inclusion Officer with the UNDP in Bangladesh. His previous experience includes working as an Inclusion Officer with Handicap International- Humanity & Inclusion and Centre for Disability in Development (CDD). Nazmus holds a Master's degree in International Relations from the University of Dhaka. His commitment to championing equality and fostering inclusivity is evident in his dedication to amplifying the voices of marginalized individuals with disabilities. Nazmus is enthusiastic about contributing to meaningful projects that drive positive transformation within communities. We extend our best wishes to Nazmus as he embarks on his journey with the UNDP in Bangladesh.

The addition of Mehjaben Akther and Nazmus Sakib to the UNV programme in Bangladesh brings valuable expertise and dedication to the team. Their roles as Programme Assistant – SRH and Diversity and Inclusion Officer will contribute significantly to advancing the missions of UNFPA Bangladesh and UNDP in Bangladesh, respectively.
