World Bank Managing Director (Operations) Anna Bjerde visited Dhaka and praised Bangladesh for its commendable performance in macro and microeconomic reforms during a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhawan. The meeting took place on Sunday afternoon during her one-day official visit to the country.

Anna Bjerde, the Managing Director of the World Bank, commended Bangladesh for its significant progress in both macro and microeconomic reforms. The praise reflects the country's commitment to positive economic changes, contributing to its development.

During the meeting, Bjerde highlighted the World Bank's ongoing support for Bangladesh's reform initiatives. She assured continued cooperation, emphasizing the importance of accelerating reforms for sustained progress.

The World Bank Managing Director stressed the importance of expeditiously implementing projects financed by the institution. She emphasized that the successful implementation of these projects is crucial for Bangladesh to receive new funds from the World Bank in the future.

The courtesy meeting included the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's private industry and investment advisor Salman Fazlur Rahman, Chief Secretary Md. Tofazzel Hossain Miah, and Secretary of Economic Relations Shahriar Kader Siddiky.
