Train Accident Claims Woman's Life in Kurigram

In a heart-wrenching incident, a 52-year-old woman named Indian Rani lost her life after being struck by a train at Rajarhat in Kurigram. The unfortunate incident occurred at approximately 11 am on Tuesday, February 27, at the Putikata area of the upazila.

According to accounts from both the police and local witnesses, the deceased, Indian Rani, was engaged in a conversation on her mobile phone near the railway line while awaiting a train to visit her relative's house. Tragically, she was hit by the Teesta-bound computer train departing from Chilmari, resulting in her immediate demise.

Upon receiving the distressing news, the relatives of Indian Rani rushed to the scene, recovered her lifeless body, and brought it back to her residence. Rajarhat police station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman verified the authenticity of the incident, confirming that police personnel have been dispatched to the location. Additionally, the Railway Police has been informed and is expected to conduct further investigations.

Md. Abduryoha, the Station Master of Kurigram Railway Station, expressed his knowledge of the incident, stating, "I heard that a woman was killed by a computer train traveling from Chilmari to Teesta."

This tragic accident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of adhering to safety protocols around railway lines and the need for heightened awareness among the public to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future. The community mourns the untimely loss of Indian Rani and extends condolences to her grieving family and friends.
