Tragic Death: Wife Allegedly Killed by Husband's Slap Amid Family Dispute

A heart-wrenching incident unfolded in Lalmonirhat Aditmari Upazila, where a dispute between a husband and wife escalated tragically, resulting in the death of the wife. Lovely Begum, a housewife, succumbed to injuries allegedly inflicted by her husband's slap during a heated family altercation. The unfolding tragedy has left the community in shock and sorrow.

The unfortunate incident occurred in the Taluk Khutamara Moktartari area of the upazila on Wednesday afternoon. Lovely Begum, the deceased, hailed from a family in Saptibari UP, while her husband, Jobaidul Islam, belonged to the same locality. The altercation reportedly ensued from a family dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation.

According to preliminary reports, the dispute between the husband and wife intensified on Wednesday morning, culminating in Jobaidul allegedly striking Lovely with a slap. Tragically, the blow rendered Lovely seriously ill, prompting her husband to rush her to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital for urgent medical attention. Despite efforts to save her, Lovely Begum passed away while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Upon receiving news of the incident, local authorities intervened, recovering Lovely's body and apprehending Jobaidul for questioning. Lalmonirhat Additional Superintendent of Police (A-Circle) AKM Fazlul Haque confirmed the developments, stating that the police have launched an investigation into the matter. Further legal action will be pursued in accordance with the law.
