West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has cast doubt on the credibility of polls favoring the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India's upcoming Lok Sabha elections, dismissing them as "fake." Speaking at a rally in Jalpaiguri in support of Trinamool Congress candidate Nirmal Chandra Roy, Banerjee adamantly stated that the BJP would not secure even 200 seats in the polls, despite purported surveys suggesting otherwise.

Mamata asserted that the alleged falsification of surveys involved substantial sums of money and urged the public not to be swayed by such misleading information. According to her, the sentiment on the ground is indicative of the BJP's impending defeat.

In the fiercely contested electoral landscape of West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress is engaged in a spirited battle against the BJP, with no formal alliances established with either the Congress or the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPM]. Banerjee's reliance on a united front against the BJP underscores the strategic importance of opposition unity in the state.

Banerjee expressed confidence in the prospects of parties aligned against the BJP, including the Samajwadi Party, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She predicted victories for these parties and emphasized that the BJP's failure to secure 200 seats would preclude it from forming a government.

Highlighting the significance of the first phase of polling scheduled for April 19 in Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, and Jalpaiguri, Banerjee reiterated her belief that the BJP's electoral fortunes would falter. She asserted that the Trinamool Congress would emerge victorious in West Bengal, while other opposition leaders such as Arvind Kejriwal in Punjab, Stalin in Tamil Nadu, and Akhilesh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh would also succeed in their respective states.

Banerjee criticized the BJP for its alleged mistreatment of marginalized communities and women, accusing the party of exacerbating social divisions and economic hardships. She called attention to the grievances of the common people and condemned the BJP's policies, suggesting that such actions would lead to the party's electoral downfall.

In conclusion, Banerjee's remarks underscored her confidence in the collective strength of opposition parties and her determination to counter the BJP's electoral dominance, particularly in West Bengal. The upcoming elections are poised to be closely contested, with political dynamics in the state likely to have far-reaching implications for national politics.
