Report on Amir of Qatar's Official Visit to Bangladesh

The two-day official visit aimed to strengthen bilateral ties and foster cooperation between Bangladesh and Qatar.

Arrival and Reception

1. A red carpet reception awaited the Amir of Qatar upon his arrival.
2. President Shahabuddin greeted him with flower bouquets at the airport.
3. A 21-gun salute marked the Amir's arrival, followed by a guard of honor and the national anthems of both countries.

Diplomatic Engagements

1. President Shahabuddin introduced the Bangladesh delegation to the Amir.
2. Key ministers and officials, including Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud, were present to facilitate discussions and engagements.
3. Bilateral meetings and discussions were scheduled between the Amir and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)

Six agreements and five MoUs were anticipated to be signed, covering areas such as taxation, legal cooperation, maritime transport, investment protection, and establishment of a joint business council.
Additional MoUs on labor force, higher education, scientific research, and diplomatic training were also expected to be finalized.
