In a significant display of bilateral cooperation, Bangladesh and Qatar have inked five agreements and five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing mutual collaboration between the two nations.

The agreements cover a range of crucial areas, including the avoidance of double taxation, cooperation in the legal field, maritime transport, promotion and protection of mutual investment, and the establishment of a joint business council between Bangladesh and Qatar.

At a ceremony held at the Prime Minister's Office in Dhaka, witnessed by Qatar's Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, officials from both countries sealed the agreements and MoUs.

Among the notable agreements, Qatar's Trade and Industry Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani and Bangladesh's Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun signed the agreement on Promotion and Protection of Mutual Investments.

Additionally, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Qatar Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and Bangladesh's State Minister for Finance Waseqa Ayesha Khan penned the Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and Prevention of Fiscal Evasion.

Furthermore, both countries signed MoUs covering cooperation in diplomatic training, education, higher education, scientific research, youth and sports, and manpower employment, reflecting a comprehensive approach to fostering collaboration in various sectors.

In a symbolic gesture, a road and a park in Dhaka were named after Qatar's Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, underscoring the deepening ties between the two nations.

The signing ceremony was followed by a tête-à-tête meeting between Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, highlighting the personal rapport between the leaders.

The visit concluded with the Amir's departure from the Prime Minister's Office to attend a courtesy lunch hosted by President Mohammed Shahabuddin at the Bangabhaban.

The agreements and MoUs signed today mark a significant step forward in strengthening the longstanding relationship between Bangladesh and Qatar, paving the way for increased collaboration and mutual prosperity.
