This time around, Malia Obama, the daughter of the former President of the United States, Barack Obama, has gained recognition in Hollywood. However, she didn't embark on this journey as an actress but as a producer, choosing to drop the 'Obama' from her family name as she started her career. 

According to reports from the US-based New York Post, the 25-year-old produced and wrote a short film titled 'The Heart,' marking her directorial debut with a screening at the Sundance Film Festival on January 18. A video clip from the festival features Malia describing the film.

The report mentions that Malia, now known as Malia Ann, studied filmmaking at Harvard University. Prior to her Hollywood debut, she interned on the HBO drama series Girls and at Harvey Weinstein's production company. Additionally, Malia worked as a writer on Donald Glover's Amazon Prime series 'Swarm.' The reason behind her decision to change her name is currently unknown.
