In a diconcerting development, the submission of the investigation report regarding the brutal murder of journalist couple sagar Sarwer and mehrun Runi has been delayed for an astonishing 108 time. The recent postponement extends the deadline until April 2, as ordered by Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Mahbubul Haque.

RAB Additional Superintendent of Police Khondoker Md Shafiqul Alam faced criticism for the failure to present the report on Tuesday (February 27), prompting the court to intervene. This marks yet another instance where the investigative authorities have been unable to provide conclusive findings in a case that has gripped the nation's attention.

The court's decision comes after a previous directive on January 23, which urged the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) to submit the investigation report promptly. This failure to meet deadlines has drawn the ire of multiple courts, reflecting the dissatisfaction over the lack of progress in identifying the motive behind the heinous killings and bringing the real culprits to justice.

The murder, which occurred on the night of February 11, 2012, saw the Maasranga Television news editor Sagar Sarwar and ATN Bangla senior reporter Mehrun Runi brutally murdered in their rented residence in West Rajabazar, the capital. The following day, Runi's brother, Nowsher Ali Roman, filed a case at Sherebangla Police Station as the plaintiff, initiating an investigation that has since been plagued by delays and setbacks.

The repeated postponements raise concerns about the efficacy and diligence of the investigative process, as the victims' families and the public await justice for a crime that remains unresolved. The courts' dissatisfaction underscores the need for a thorough and expedited investigation, emphasizing the importance of bringing the perpetrators to account and providing closure for the grieving families.
