Direct Flight from Tel Aviv to Dhaka

On the evening of Eid, a direct flight from Tel Aviv, Israel, landed at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport, sparking curiosity and raising questions among the public. The incident prompted discussions on social media platforms, with some criticizing the government's handling of the situation.

Explanation from CAAB

Two days after the incident, the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) issued a circular providing clarification regarding the landing of the direct flight from Tel Aviv. According to the circular signed by Mohammad Sohel Kamruzzaman, Deputy Director of Public Relations at CAAB, the flight in question arrived in Dhaka on April 7 at 7:22 PM and departed at 11:55 PM with cargo. Another flight landed in Dhaka on the night of April 11 at 12:30 midnight, also for cargo transportation purposes. Both flights were registered in the United States and operated by the National Airlines of that country.

Bilateral Aviation Agreement

The circular emphasized that Bangladesh and the United States have a bilateral aviation agreement, which facilitated the arrival of the cargo flights in Dhaka. The cargo onboard these flights consisted of Bangladeshi-made garments destined for the Middle East and Europe. However, it was explicitly stated that there is no aviation agreement between Bangladesh and Israel, and no Israeli aircraft has landed in Bangladesh.

Clarification and Request

CAAB expressed concern over the confusion created by various online news outlets and social media platforms reporting the incident under the misleading title "Airplane from Israel has arrived in Dhaka." The notification highlighted that such news coverage could unintentionally or purposely mislead the public. Therefore, all concerned parties were urged to refrain from disseminating such misleading information.

Flight Tracking Data

According to FlightRadar 24, the flight from Tel Aviv arrived at Dhaka's Shahjalal International Airport after a 6-hour journey, landing at approximately 8:00 PM Bangladesh time on Eid last Thursday.

The clarification provided by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh sheds light on the circumstances surrounding the arrival of the direct flight from Tel Aviv to Dhaka. While the incident initially raised questions and sparked discussions, the CAAB's explanation helps clarify the situation and addresses concerns regarding aviation agreements and flight operations between Bangladesh and Israel.
