The cricket community is abuzz with speculation about the next president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), especially since the current president, Nazmul Hasan Papon, has taken on the role of Youth and Sports Minister.

Until recently, the names of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan were prominent in these discussions. However, Papon clarified on Friday (January 12) that neither Mashrafe nor Shakib could immediately assume the presidency, as they must adhere to certain regulations to be eligible for the position.

Amidst these conversations, a video featuring Shakib gained traction on social media. In this video, which was shared on the Facebook page of T-10 League team Bangla Tigers at 6 pm on January 12, Shakib expresses his confidence in potentially becoming the "best president" in the history of Bangladesh cricket. This statement came during an interview where he was also asked about his views on becoming the BCB president.

Responding to the question, Shakib expressed his enthusiasm for the role, saying, "If the opportunity comes, I will never miss it. I believe, when I go, I will be the best president in the history of Bangladesh. This is my belief.” He further added, "Time will tell. Now I feel like I can do a lot of things. It turned out that I really couldn’t do it. It can be like that. But I have that belief that I can do a lot."

Shakib also acknowledged the contributions of Nazmul Hasan Papon and former president AHM Mustafa Kamal, stating that their efforts were pivotal in advancing Bangladesh cricket. He emphasized that only by being in their position could one truly understand what was possible and what was not. Shakib expressed a balanced view, recognizing the past presidents' achievements while maintaining confidence in his own potential contributions.
