Army has gained the trust of the people

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated two new military facilities, the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) building and the Army Central Auditorium, on Sunday, May 5, 2024, in Dhaka Cantonment. The ceremony was attended by members of the armed forces, cabinet members, Prime Minister's advisers, army chiefs, and senior military and civilian officials.

During her address at the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Hasina emphasized the trust and confidence of the people in the Bangladesh Army. She highlighted the significance of the army's role in standing by the people, earning their trust, particularly in times of crisis. Prime Minister Hasina acknowledged the loss of faith and trust in the army among common people after the events of August 15, 1975, underscoring the importance of restoring confidence in the armed forces for safeguarding sovereignty and independence.

Prime Minister Hasina expressed her efforts to instill trust and confidence among the common people in the army, stating that such trust is indispensable for any army's success. She reiterated the government's commitment to ensuring that the armed forces remain a source of trust for the people.

Appreciating the Bangladesh Army's contributions to peacekeeping missions, Prime Minister Hasina emphasized the need for continuous improvement in this regard. She highlighted various government initiatives aimed at modernizing the armed forces, including the implementation of Forces Goal 2030 based on the defense policy formulated by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib in 1974. Prime Minister Hasina emphasized the importance of equipping the armed forces with modern knowledge and technology, aligning with the vision of building a digital Bangladesh.

The newly constructed Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) building aims to enhance medical services for armed forces members and their families in the Dhaka Cantonment area. Additionally, the Army Central Auditorium will serve as a venue for organizing important meetings, seminars, and social events at both national and international levels.
