EC nods 1 January Book Festival
The Election Commission (EC) has given its consent for the New Textbook Distribution Festival, also known as the Book Festival, to be held on January 1, 2024.
This decision was communicated in a notice signed by Atiyar Rahman, Deputy Secretary of EC Election Management-2, on Sunday, December 25.
According to the notification, the annual tradition of distributing new textbooks to students on the first day of the academic year, January 1, 2024, has received official endorsement for nationwide implementation.
In line with this approval, field-level divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners (DCs), upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs), and other relevant authorities are tasked with orchestrating the book distribution to various educational institutions, following established protocols. The commencement of the book distribution is contingent upon formal approval from the Prime Minister.
The notice also highlights the upcoming 12th National Assembly (Jatiya Sangsad - JS) elections, scheduled for January 7, with campaign activities currently underway, set to conclude on January 5.
