488 officers and members received IGP badge

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun

In a commendable acknowledgment of their meritorious and commendable work, 488 officers and members of the police force were awarded the 'IGP's Exemplary Good Services Badge' (IG's Badge) by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun. The award ceremony took place on Wednesday afternoon at the parade ground of Rajarbagh Police Lines.

The IGP not only presented the prestigious badge but also handed over certificates to the recipients, marking it as the second-highest police award. The ceremony was a recognition of the dedication and outstanding performance displayed by these individuals in their line of duty.

The announcement of the awards came through a letter from Additional DIG (Confidential) of Police Headquarters, AFM Anjuman Kamal, on February 24. The letter highlighted that 488 police personnel were selected to receive the second prestigious A badge in recognition of their meritorious and commendable work in the year 2023.

The award ceremony was part of the larger Police Week-2024, inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday at the Rajarbagh Police Lines ground. The Prime Minister participated in the annual police parade, inspecting and saluting the orderly and colorful display of various police contingents and flag bearers.

During the event, the Prime Minister delivered an orientation speech to the policemen and actively participated in the welfare parade. In a previous recognition initiative, from December 1, 2022, to January 10, 2024, a total of 400 policemen were honored with BPM and PPM medals for their meritorious contributions.

Police Week-2024, under the theme 'Smart Police, Smart Country; Bangladesh of Peaceful Progress,' is set to continue until March 3. The event showcases a colorful celebration of the dedication and service of the police force, emphasizing the role of a smart police force in contributing to the peaceful progress of Bangladesh.
