In a recent press conference held at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan, Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, Vice-Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), made a striking declaration. He announced that if BNP were to come to power amidst international pressure leading to potential conflict, the party would institute military training for students. This initiative aims to form a citizen army, as asserted by Major (Retd) Ahmed.

The statement came during a meeting of the celebration committee convened by BNP on the occasion of Independence Day. Presided over by Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed himself, the meeting discussed various strategies and plans. Following the meeting, Major (Retd) Ahmed addressed the media, highlighting BNP's stance on historical narratives and future initiatives.

Major (Retd) Ahmed criticized the ruling party, Awami League, attributing them to be responsible for what he termed as the "cultural invasion" of the country. He accused the current leadership of distorting the true history of the liberation war and pledged BNP's commitment to rectify this narrative by educating the populace on the authentic historical context of the nation's struggle for independence.

In line with its patriotic fervor, BNP unveiled its plans for the Great Independence Day celebration. The party announced a series of events, including a freedom fighter rally scheduled to take place in Nayapaltan on March 25th. On March 26th, BNP leaders and activists are set to hoist party flags across all BNP offices, culminating in a solemn visit to the martyrs' memorial in Gulshan. Additionally, homage will be paid at the tomb of BNP's founder and former president, Ziaur Rahman. The festivities will continue with a discussion meeting in Dhaka on March 27th, underscoring the party's dedication to honoring the sacrifices of the nation's heroes and preserving its historical legacy.

With Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram's announcement, BNP appears to be positioning itself with a proactive stance, should circumstances necessitate drastic measures to safeguard national sovereignty. As the political landscape evolves, BNP's assertions on historical fidelity and preparedness for potential challenges underscore its determination to uphold the interests of Bangladesh and its people.
