Former Prime Minister and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson, Khaleda Zia, was admitted to the hospital late last night due to a deterioration in her physical condition. This development follows a series of health concerns that have persisted over the past few days.

Khaleda Zia's personal doctor, A ZM Zahid Hossain, reported that she was admitted to the hospital around 3 o'clock last night as her health deteriorated. Prior to her admission, members of her medical board conducted a health check at her residence in Gulshan and advised immediate hospitalization. Acting upon this advice, she was swiftly taken to Evercare Hospital for treatment.

This recent incident adds to a history of health complications for Khaleda Zia. She had previously been admitted to Evercare Hospital on August 9 last year and was discharged on January 11 after more than five months of treatment. Despite requests from her family for permission to seek treatment abroad, she underwent surgery for liver cirrhosis on October 27, 2023, performed by specialist doctors from the US.

Khaleda Zia's health issues have been exacerbated by her incarceration. She was convicted in two cases of corruption and imprisoned on February 8, 2018. However, she was granted conditional release on March 25, 2020, with the government periodically extending her release period.

The recent hospitalization of Khaleda Zia underscores the ongoing health challenges she faces, compounded by her previous medical history and the conditions of her release.
