Rohingya camp fire in Ukhia
A devastating fire broke out in the Rohingya camp situated in Ukhia Upazila, Cox's Bazar. The incident occurred at Ukhia Camp No. 5 around 1:00 am on Sunday, resulting in over 500 huts being destroyed. Mohammad Hamid, the Head Majhi (Leader) of A Block in Camp No. 5, confirmed the incident.
Five fire rescue teams are currently engaged in extinguishing the fire, which, as of the latest reports, remains uncontrolled and continues to spread in all directions.
Mohammad Iqbal, the Additional DIG of Police, 14 Armed Police Battalion (APBN), stated that fire service personnel are actively trying to contain the blaze. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Authorities are investigating whether the fire was a deliberate act or an accident. Members of the APBN are present at the scene to assist with the situation and the ongoing investigation.
