The historical slogan "Joy Bangla," immortalized by the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, served as the inspiration for Bangladesh's Liberation War, stated Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder. These remarks were made at a commemorative event marking the iconic March 7 speech by Bangabandhu, organized by the Naogaon district administration at the Sadar Upazila Parishad Auditorium.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Minister Majumder highlighted the pivotal role of Bangabandhu's speech on March 7, 1971, in galvanizing the nation for independence. He lauded the speech for its unprecedented clarity and focus, noting that Bangabandhu did not repeat a single word, yet delivered comprehensive directives for freedom.

The minister also acknowledged the influence of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, who encouraged her husband to speak his heart, an advice that ultimately led to a speech that captivated the nation. The people of Bangladesh, Majumder remarked, were spellbound by Bangabandhu's words, which propelled them into the freedom struggle, resulting in the country's liberation.

Reflecting on the past, the minister lamented the years when Bangabandhu's speech was suppressed, and its broadcast was met with persecution. Today, however, it stands as a beacon of pride for Bangladesh, having been recognized by UNESCO as the world's most inspiring speech.

The event saw the participation of notable figures including Superintendent of Police Mohammad Rashidul Haque, Upazila Parishad Chairman Rafiqul Islam, and other distinguished guests. The Acting Deputy Commissioner Milton Chandra Roy chaired the event, with Abu Bakkar Siddiq, President of Naogaon District Press Club, among the speakers.

The Food Minister's tribute to Bangabandhu began with a floral homage to his portrait, setting a respectful tone for the day's proceedings. Additionally, the event celebrated the achievements of local talent, with Minister Majumder distributing prizes and certificates to winners of competitions organized by the district administration in honor of the historic March 7.

The commemoration of this day serves not only as a reminder of the struggle for independence but also as an affirmation of the enduring spirit of "Joy Bangla" in guiding the nation forward.
