The Bangladesh Awami League (AL) is poised to unveil its '12th Jatiya Sangsad Election Manifesto-2024' today. Dr. Abdur Razzak, the convener of the election manifesto drafting committee and a member of the AL praesidium, confirmed this news.

Dr. Razzak announced, "Under the overarching theme of creating a 'Smart Bangladesh', our party president, Sheikh Hasina, will launch the manifesto at a city hotel tomorrow at 10 am."

He emphasized the comprehensive nature of the manifesto, stating, "This is more than just a party manifesto; it truly represents the aspirations of the entire nation, with a special emphasis on engaging more young people in our developmental journey."

Dr. Razzak also referenced the Awami League's track record of fulfilling its previous electoral promises. He reminded everyone of the party's successful implementation of past manifestos, including the 'Charter of Change' in 2008, which introduced the Digital Bangladesh initiative, 'Bangladesh is moving forward' in 2014, and 'Bangladesh on the march of prosperity' in 2018.

The manifesto for this year, as Dr. Razzak outlined, focuses on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's vision of transforming Bangladesh into a developed country by 2041. The cornerstone of this vision is the creation of a 'Smart Bangladesh', which includes combating corruption, stabilizing prices, and ensuring good governance in the financial sector.

Dr. Razzak further stated, "Each Awami League manifesto has not only been aligned with the government's term but also has laid out a long-term development plan, all of which have been smoothly implemented. This year's manifesto is no exception, aiming to be both smart in its approach and oriented towards the masses."

The manifesto, he explained, will prioritize modern technology under the 'Smart Bangladesh' initiative, particularly focusing on generating employment opportunities for the youth through visible development projects.

"The 'Smart Bangladesh' initiative aims to foster industrialization, attract local and foreign investments, create jobs, and enhance the earning capacity of our citizens," he added.

Dr. Salim Mahmud, the Member Secretary of the manifesto drafting committee and AL Information & Research Secretary, highlighted that this year's manifesto extends beyond appealing to young voters. It also prioritizes agriculture, economic growth, industrial production, and service sectors. Additionally, the manifesto includes commitments to the fundamental rights of transgender and other marginalized groups.

The AL Election Manifesto-2024 was prepared by a 25-member committee led by Dr. Razzaque, incorporating inputs from a wide range of societal groups.
